Jewellery making for children

Camana Bay’s Cultural Workshops resume this weekend with a one-off jewellery making class on Saturday, 9 February.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, youngsters will be able to woo their sweethearts with unique creations.

The course is led by Gale Tibbetts, who has been designing and making jewellery since she was 14.

Gale has worked with precious metals and many different gemstones over the years and created the Bee Line design beaded jewellery, in memory of her sister Brenda.

Gale will be supplying all necessary materials for the class, including beads and seasonally-appropriate heart-shaped pendants.

She will be talking about local gems, including Caymanite and black coral, some of which will be included in the selection of materials.

The class is appropriate for children ages 7 to 10 and lasts about one hour. During that time, participants will be able to design and string together their own necklace.

Classes are free of charge, but space is limited so register early by contacting [email protected]
