The Cake Studio: How it all started
The Cake Studio came about almost by accident. Owner Lori-Ann Foley
found herself in a pickle one Father’s Day when over 60 frozen yoghurt
cakes she had imported specially ended up melting due to a freezer door
being left open. She had no time to reorder them, and so she decided to
take on the challenge herself. She did research on the Internet, learned
how to decorate, and unbelievably managed to replace all of the cakes
and more in two weeks. You might say she turned lemons into lemon cake.
Seems she had the gift because the orders kept coming in. That was
back in 2010. Since then The Cake Studio has become a top boutique
operation in the Cayman Islands. Lori-Ann has gone to San Diego for
training in how to sculpt flowers from icing, but thanks to her
self-taught beginnings, she has developed her own cake structures and
frostings that invite requests for advice from all over the world.
