Don’t give up

In life we need to learn to never give up.

If you are reading this, you have been given a chance to figure something out and do better or make better of your current situation. Even if it means accepting the consequences of your actions or situation this acceptance can be the key to your happiness and success today.

Let me share this story with you.

“One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway and it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him cover up the well.

They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realised what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that fell on the donkey’s back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer’s neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!”

Moral of the story: Life is going to shovel dirt on you; all kinds of dirt. The trick is not to get bogged down by it. We can get out of the deepest holes by not stopping and by never giving up. Shake it off and take a step up! Sometimes it just takes re-evaluating your situation to find the answer or solution just like the donkey did. He could have just stayed there and continue to complain, remain the victim and then die; but instead he found a solution that saved his life.

We all have those choices; we can remain and complain in the situation, change and rearrange the situation, accept and adapt to the situation or simply leave the situation. Let’s start to shift our thinking and come into harmony of what is and deal with the situation whatever it may be. Because if that donkey could figure his way out of his predicament, then I am positive that we all can.
