If you’re seriously looking to lose some weight and embark on a healthier lifestyle, now is your chance: War On Weight, a Cayman Heart Fund initiative, is gearing up for its sixth annual challenge and contestants are being sought.
The competition takes 10 determined men and women and helps to transform them into healthy individuals. Since its launch in 2008, WOW has helped some 50 contestants lose more than 1,500 pounds.
During the 16-week challenge, contestants must participate in six hours of mandatory fitness, including group activities, partake in a customised meal plan under the guidance of a licensed dietician, attend information weight loss and healthy living seminars and workshops, as well as attend regular medical checkups. WOW contestants will also attend group counselling sessions with a certified therapist.
Cayman Heart Fund chairman David Dinner said the competition is designed for those who really have a heartfelt desire to make a change and lead a healthier lifestyle.
“For 16 weeks, challengers have access to a wide range of expert advisers, all dedicated to helping them achieve smart lifelong goals,” he said. “Getting involved in our competition is the kick-start many people need to make the change to a healthier lifestyle.
“Since 2008, the WOW competition has increased the awareness and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly to decrease Cayman’s growing obesity problem.
“The WOW programme educates participants on diet and fitness, instilling the disciplines to maintain a balanced and healthy wellbeing. Many past contestants continue to maintain their results and have a significant influence on family and friends to follow a healthier new regime.”
Deadline for applications is Saturday, 3 August.
