Tibbetts powers public health board

The head of Cayman Brac’s electricity company has been appointed as the new chairman of the Health Services Authority board.

Approved by Cabinet, Jonathan Tibbetts will replace Albert Anderson as chairman, while Karie Bergstrom, chief operating officer of Maples and Calder Cayman Islands, will serve as deputy chair.

Last month, Mr. Anderson took up a new role as the chief executive officer of the Cayman Islands Airports Authority.

Mr. Tibbetts said, “I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve in this capacity. I will do my best to serve the people of the Cayman Islands to the best of my ability.” The minister responsible for health, Osbourne Bodden welcomed the newly appointed board members in their new roles.

“They are dedicated and committed members and I thank them for their service, stepping up when needed,” said Mr. Bodden.

“I wish them well in their new roles and the HSA is excited to have the board regularized once again and moving ahead to continue to improve the quality of [health] care in these islands,” Mr. Bodden added.

Last year, Karie Bergstrom served as the board’s human resources representative, and Mr. Tibbetts was deputy chairman.

Mr. Tibbetts has been appointed to fill the role of chairman until August 2016.

Existing board directors include: Wanda Ebanks, Baron Jacob, Ryan Walrond and Dr. Ruthlyn Pomares.
