One of local hockey’s biggest clashes is about to take center stage.
The Fall 2014 Adult Inline League at Kings Sports Centre is heading into round 6 with matches on Oct. 14. At 8 p.m., the 4-1 Sharknados square off with the 4-1 Cayman Hot Sauce Flames before the 1-4 ITS Solar Bears battle the 1-4 High Rollers at 9 p.m. An early league lead and initial bragging rights are on the line in the early game. Both clubs have relied on potent offenses that are tops in the competition, as the Sharknados have scored 43 goals while the Flames have netted 50 goals.
Evan Ellbogen of the Sharknados leads the league with 27 goals while Dennis Paschier is second with 10 goals while ranking second in passing with nine assists.
Both teams are coming off huge victories last week. The Sharknados crushed the Bears, 8-3, as Ellbogen and Scott Somerville nabbed all the goals for the winners while Brad De Schiffert, Jagger Hope and Colin Wilson scored for ITS.
De Schiffert, Dan Etherington and Fareed Hosein had assists for the Bears while Ellbogen, Ryan Pull, Somerville, Jeff Danter and Jason Windsor made assists for the Sharknados.
The Flames burnt the High Rollers, 9-5, thanks to goals from Derek Bruce, Mike and Andrew Bowden and Paschier. Jeremy Hadley, Rich Hastings, Gordon Mattison and Rob Seward scored for the Rollers. Bruce, Jamie Nelson, Andrew Bowden and Paschier registered assists for Cayman Hot Sauce while Hadley, Hastings, Seward and Joe Jewitt produced the assists for the losing side.
