Teenage sprinter Rashaun Conolly competed in Cali, Colombia, last weekend in the Grand Prix Central American and Caribbean Athletics Youth and the South American Junior Championships, and he did well.
Conolly was fifth in his 200 meter heat in 22.91 seconds, which placed him second overall in his age range in the Grand Prix section. That was good enough to earn the 16-year-old Caymanian a silver medal.
Conolly is a member of the Mustang Track Club. His coach Tyrone Yen said, “I congratulate Rashaun on his fine performance. He has been competing internationally for two years and improved significantly in that time.”
Conolly also runs the 400m and was a member of the 4 x 400m team that broke their own Cayman record earlier this year at the CARIFTA Games in Martinique.
“Rashaun is a good athlete who is willing to learn and is very coachable,” said Yen. “He works hard and has a great future in track.”
