Two Cayman gymnasts recently competed against some of the top gymnasts from Canada, the U.S. and Mexico at the Gymnix International in Montreal.
Raegan Rutty and Morgan Lloyd represented the Cayman Islands at the competition last month. They competed in the Senior Open category.
Gymnix was Rutty’s first national team competition and she posted a strong 39.099 with solid routines across all four events. Rutty trains about 20 hours a week with teammate Morgan Lloyd, who represented Cayman at last year’s Youth Olympic Games.
Rutty’s results at Gymnix have demonstrated that her hard work in the gym is paying off, and at 13 years old she is ready to join the ranks of Cayman’s senior team.
Lloyd has been battling injuries this year and was only able to compete on bars at Gymnix, but is expected to be fully recovered and ready to compete in full form at the Pan Am Games in July.
