The official celebrations of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday here in the Cayman Islands will take place on Saturday June 11, with Monday June 13 being a public holiday to mark the event.
Saturday’s celebrations start in George Town at 9:30 a.m. with a parade by the uniformed services, followed by a brief ceremony at the Legislative Assembly, recognizing recipients of Queen’s Honours.
From 10:15 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. the public can attend a garden party on the lawn of Government House in celebration of the Queen’s Birthday. A dress code of semi-formal day dress will be enforced. Hats are optional.
Queen Elizabeth’s actual birthday is April 21, but the date of the official celebration throughout the British Commonwealth varies, usually between late May and mid-June, when there’s a higher probability of good weather in the Northern Hemisphere.
