Members of West Bay’s Manderson family attended the memorial service on Thursday, Aug. 4, for former Cayman Islands Governor Thomas Russell.

The service, in front of the Glass House in George Town, coincided with Mr. Russell’s funeral in Melrose, Scotland. He died on July 4 at the age of 96.

At the service, Deputy Governor Franz Manderson delivered a eulogy to Mr. Russell. “Mr. Russell was a great friend of our family,” he said. “I remember him as a proud Caymanian. A great chef who also loved my mom’s lemon pies. He was a brave soldier and the fastest walker I have ever met.”
