Frightfully fantastic Halloween parties

Makeup doesn't have to be complicated to be effective.

The kids get to go out trick-or-treating on Monday, so the adults should treat themselves to a party this Friday night.

Diablo Halloween Ball

Abacus in Camana Bay throws a mean White party every Christmas, so it stands to reason that it would have a great Halloween party too.

The Diablo Ball starts at 6 p.m. and goes to 3 a.m. with three DJs, a best dressed competition and even Veuve Champagne Tables.

Tickets are $20 in advance from Abacus and BlackBeard’s and $25 at the gate. Part proceeds go to Meals On Wheels Cayman Islands.

Frightfest Strand Block Party

This was a pretty popular one last year. Park your car once, and have four parties to attend in one place. Whiskey Mist, The Warehouse and the like will be transformed into Witches Mist, House of Horrors, Scarehouse and Creepy Carpark. The latter sounds interesting … will they scatter KFC bones around the lot? You’ll have to get a ticket to find out.

With multiple venues included in the party, there are lots of music options depending on where you find yourself. The Neverines, That ‘80s Band and Mackenzie Brown will be bringing the live vibes, while DJs Billy Corduroy, Glenroy, Lizzie Curious, Matt Banx, Rion Kirk, Mix Master DJ and Urusai take to the turntables (so to speak).

Get your costume on and prepare to dance the night away.

Tickets are $20 in advance from the Epic Day Office at the Strand and all BlackBeard’s/Big Daddy’s stores, or $25 at the door.

Boogieween at The Wharf

The Wharf always holds its Boogie Nights retro dance party on the last Friday of the month, so it stands to reason that in October it would incorporate a ghoulish nod to Halloween, making it Boogieween for one night only.

DJ Flex plays all your favorite classics from the ‘70s and ‘80s, with pop music, classic rock, disco and funk thrown into the potion for good measure. There will be three prizes up for grabs for the best costumes of the night. Wouldn’t you like to be the Belle of the Boogieween Ball?

The party starts at 9:30 p.m. and entrance is free.

The Haunted Mansion

Royal Palms Beach Club is no slouch when it comes to Halloween celebrations. Banshees shuffle to the music of DJs Lin and Jonesian all night long, and there is a huge costume competition to be won. First prize is round-trip airfare for two to Miami, and the second prize is a coveted staycation.

Drinks include a $6 Specialty Halloween Cocktail and a $5 Specialty Halloween Shot.

The party starts at 9:30 p.m. and entrance is free.
