One of the most anticipated events of the holiday season is the Camana Bay Annual Tree Lighting.
Taking place on Saturday, Nov. 17, the event kicks off the festive season and transforms Camana Bay into a Christmas wonderland, taking pride of place at the Crescent, and visible all the way to the newly constructed Rise at the other end of the Paseo.
Unsurprisingly, the Annual Tree Lighting draws a large crowd, with hundreds flocking to enjoy the event and its accompanying entertainment, so if you want to get to the front, be sure to arrive early. Another option is to book a table at one of the restaurants surrounding the Crescent where you can enjoy the view with a beverage or two or a full-blown meal.
The evening’s festivities start when the Holiday Craft Market opens at 4 p.m. Running until 9 p.m., the market, which begins its seasonal run on Nov. 14, provides shoppers with an opportunity to tick some items off their Christmas list early.
From 5 to 7 p.m., live acts will perform on stage, such as Mikayla Corin, First Baptist Christian School, Centre Pointe Dance Studio, Cayman International School, Cayman Music School, Dance Unlimited and Cayman Youth Choir.
To the delight of all of the children in attendance, and the adults too no doubt, Santa Claus himself will make an appearance during the evening.
The switch for the tree lights is flipped at 6 p.m., turning the towering 37-foot tree into a sparkling focal point for Camana Bay. As well as the tree’s 40,000-plus lights, Christmas lights throughout Camana Bay also come to life, illuminating the main streets and winding walkways throughout the town.
For those energetic revelers who can’t get enough of the holiday spirit, DJ Derrek will be entertaining the masses at an after party from 8 to 10 p.m.
