Applications will be made to drop attempted murder charges against Carlos Jameel Bustillo and Daniel Wallace Rankine, Justice Roger Chapple heard Friday.

The applications are being prepared by defence attorneys Crister Brady, on behalf of Rankine, and Rupert Wheeler, on behalf of Bustillo.

Brady asked the court to delay arraignment on Friday, adding that the case is a “potentially cutthroat matter”.

The case was scheduled to recommence on 3 Sept.

Rankine was taken into custody on Thursday, 20 June and later charged with attempted murder in relation to a 26 April shooting on South Church Street. It is not clear when the attempted murder charge was made for Bustillo.
