Dozens of Cayman swimmers lined up to continue a great tradition over the weekend.

More than 130 swimmers signed up to compete in the 35th annual Foster’s Sea Swim, with the vast majority of them opting for the longer of two distance options. There were 116 swimmers in the 800m sea swim and 19 in the 400m distance, and they ranged in age from 8 and under all the way to over 70.

The shorter distance was untimed, and the fastest three swimmers in the 800m were Jake Bailey (10 minutes, 24 seconds), Jordan Crooks (10:30) and Raya Embury-Brown (11:03).

Crooks, 17, and Embury-Brown, 14, competed in the FINA World Swimming Championships earlier this year.

The fastest swimmers in the 8-and-under category were Chase Watson (15:47) for the boys and Zimmie McGrath (22:30) for the girls.

Frank Flowers was the oldest swimmer at the Foster’s Sea Swim, and he clocked 19:00 to register the fastest time in the Over 70 division of the swim.
