One man was injured after he fled from police last Thursday.

Police said at around 8:30am on Thursday 20 Feb., officers had cause to stop a blue Honda Civic that was driving along Eastern Avenue, George Town.

The statement said while using emergency lights and sirens officers attempted to stop the vehicle. However instead of pulling over, the driver sped away.

Police said after, assessing it was safe to pursue the car they did.
Officers flowed the driver into Washington Boulevard, where he existed the vehicle and fled on foot.

“The officers made chase, however the man escaped,” said Royal Cayman Islands Police Services Media Officer Jodi-Ann Powery. “The officers continued to search the surrounding area.”

Police were later informed that the driver had received serious but non-life threatening injuries while running away from police.

The man was located and warned by police of intended prosecution for several driving offences.

Police said the man was taken to the Cayman Islands hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

The vehicle was searched, however nothing illegal was found, the matter remains under investigation.
