The SAICA Cayman chapter has come together to raise $7,000 to support Connect by Nova’s efforts to provide Caymanians with free work readiness workshops, trainings and tailored one-on-one career support.
Connect by Nova, a non-profit whose mission is to support Caymanians and the wider Cayman community to achieve career success through guided access to education, training, and employment, has been making substantial strides in the Cayman Community, working hard to promote and integrate its developmental and educational programs into the schools island-wide.
“We are delighted to partner with Connect by Nova as our chosen charity for our first SAICA Cayman golf day. It is great to see the incredible support from our SAICA members and community,” stated Alison Palmer, Chair of SAICA Cayman. The August 18th tournament welcomed 80 participants for a day at the North Sound Golf Club.
Throughout the last year, Connect by Nova provided career advice to individuals aged 17-55, 98% of whom were Caymanian. Education levels ranged from high school and vocational to others with associate or bachelor’s degrees. Of those offered Connect by Nova’s one-on-one services, 63% were unemployed.
Hannah Jackson, Career Services Manager of Connect by Nova, added, “Through SAICA’s generous contribution, Connect by Nova will be able to continue to support unemployed and underemployed Caymanians.
Connect by Nova has released its second annual Impact Report. “The report highlights [Connect by Nova’s] results in response to the question we asked during our inaugural Impact Day, ‘How can we do more?’” shared Hannah Jackson, Career Services Manager of Connect by Nova.
Based on feedback from their inaugural Impact Day held in October 2021, 95% of the executives, government representatives and community partners that attended asked the non-profit to focus on the island’s educational institutions—Connect’s second year of operations resulted in 15 different workshops for 472 students across community partners like John Gray High School, CIFEC, UCCI, ICCI, Passport2Success and the Family Resource Centre. Jackson continued, “These workshops focused on providing much-needed career support and guidance to the youth of our islands”.

Congratulations to the winning team Ocorian, with Bolder and F45 finishing in second and third place, respectively. Special prizes were awarded for the following: Closest to the Pin – Conor Glynn ; Lady’s Longest Drive – Kelly Wright ; and Men’s Longest Drive – Berno de Villiers.
