After breaking several records in November to begin his junior season at the University of Tennessee, Caymanian swimmer Jordan Crooks was back for more this past weekend.
Tennessee hosted Louisiana State University on Saturday, 27 Jan., at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center, where Crooks posted a winning time of 18.80 seconds in the 50-metre free, before turning in a season’s best 45.18 to finish first in the 100m butterfly.
Crooks ended things in the 400m free relay, where he had a leadoff 100m split of 41.87, which was the top mark of the week in the NCAA Southeastern Conference.
He teamed up with Gui Caribe, Nikoli Blackman and Björn Kammann in the 400 free to record a time of 2:51.54 – the 10th-fastest in Tennessee history.
Following the competition, Tennessee announced that Crooks had earned swimmer of the week honours for the 11th time – the most in the programme’s history.
