Maples Group Strengthens Cayman Islands Litigation and Finance Practices with Partner Appointments

Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of Malachi Sweetman and Matthew St-Amour to Partner in its Cayman Islands office.

Malachi is a member of the Dispute Resolution & Insolvency practice with many years of experience in commercial litigation and across a broad range of financial and commercial disputes. An experienced advocate, Malachi specialises in shareholder litigation including high-value merger appraisals and has also advised on cross-border insolvencies. His significant disputes include representing FGL Holdings in its successful merger appraisal action[1] and the ongoing appraisal actions involving 58.com and 51JOB.

Matthew, a senior lawyer in the firm’s Finance practice, has extensive experience advising both borrower and lender side clients on all stages of the funding lifecycle.  His clients include hedge funds, private equity funds, banks and non-bank lenders.  He regularly advises on fund finance and other secured lending transactions, structured finance and bankruptcy remote structures, derivatives and all types of collateral and credit support arrangements.
