A 33-year-old man appeared in Summary Court on Thursday, 3 July, charged with the abduction and murder of a toddler three years ago.
It is alleged Devon Emmanuel Wright Jr. abducted and murdered Alissady Azalea Powell, who was 2.
The toddler’s body was found on Cayman Brac’s ironshore on 26 July 2022.
Wright made no plea when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Angelyn Hernandez, as the seriousness of the case warrants it being heard in Grand Court.
Hernandez transferred the case to the upper court.

Wright, who appeared by video link from custody, has been scheduled to appear before the Grand Court on 11 July.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police service will conduct a press briefing later on Thursday afternoon to discuss the case.
