Compass through the decades

Significant developments in the evolution of the national newspaper of record

Compass TV

2025

  • Compass TV is launched, with Daybreak morning show, the Evening News, the weekly Forefront political show and other special programmes. It is the first local privately owned television station in the Cayman Islands since Cayman 27, owned by Hurley’s Media, folded in 2019.
  • Compass Media is now the first and only omnichannel media company in the Cayman Islands, with print, digital, radio and TV platforms.
  • The Compass radio stations are broadcast on the Sister Islands for the first time. In a world first, the islands are connected by laying 85 miles of underwater cable and installing antennae and transmitters on the government’s radio tower on Cayman Brac, which allows the signal to be broadcast across the two Sister Islands.
  • Compass digital archive is launched.
  • The Cayman Compass celebrates 60 years since the launch of the national newspaper of record.
