A video blogger faces a charge of harassment over an ICT network after police cleared an assistant teacher at Layman E. Scott Sr. High School of misconduct allegations relating to inappropriate online images.
Police have charged Facebook vlogger Kerry Rosita Tibbetts-Whittaker, 57, with the use of an ICT [Information and Communications Technology] network to annoy, harass or threaten the educator, who was suspended from her job in September last year.
The assistant teacher, Jinky Ann Gazzingan Walton, has been reinstated in her job, the Ministry of Education has confirmed.
In a statement issued Thursday, the ministry said the woman, who had been placed on administrative leave last year “in accordance with safeguarding protocols”, had been cleared to resume her duties, “as no evidence was found to support allegations of misconduct”.
Police had launched an investigation into the allegations of misconduct against Walton on 15 Sept. 2025 “due to a publication of concern in the local media”.
They noted that, prior to that publication, “the concerned staff member made a report to the Cayman Brac Police Station regarding a social media post citing similar allegations. The Cayman Brac Police conducted an investigation into this report.”
It was this latter investigation that concluded with the charges being brought against Tibbetts-Whittaker, whom, the police say, had initially posted the allegations.
“The initial investigation conducted by RCIPS (Protective Services Unit) concluded with there being no evidence to support the allegations against the staff member. The staff member concerned has been cleared of any wrongdoing during the extensive enquiries that were undertaken,” police said.
Tibbetts-Whittaker has been summonsed to appear before the Cayman Brac Summary Court on 29 Jan.
Walton told Compass Media, “While I respect freedom of expression, I also believe it carries responsibility. No one should have to endure harassment or the misuse of personal information especially on online platforms. I hope this calls for accountability and responsible use of social media throughout our community.”
