The top article on the Tuesday, 15 June 1976 Caymanian Compass was ‘The Queen honours three more in the Cayman Islands’.
It reported that chairman of the Caymanian Protection Board, Arthur Berkley Hunter, attorney at law and head of the law firm of Hunter and Hunter, has been awarded the insignia of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Receiving the titles of Members of the Most excellent Order of British Empire were the Reverend Edward Raib Arch and the dispenser of the George Town Hospital Althea Elizabeth McLaughlin. The announcements were made at the Queen’s Birthday Parade.
The Commonwealth Day message from the Queen was also read by the governor at the parade, urging all to strive to achieve fundamental freedoms, including to “bring down the numbers suffering from starvation in the world”.

In the Friday, 18 June 1976 issue, the top article was ‘New Divorce Bill introduced in Legislature’. The law abandoned the principle “that a single act of adultery shall be an absolute ground for divorce, though it may in fact still be a ground”.
Another article told the story of two West Bay musicians, McArthur Manderson and Elgin Welds, who were adrift for 18 hours after the 50-hp engine on their 16-foot cabin cruiser failed. They were rescued a little after 4pm the following day.

The editorial on page 4 was on the Currency Amendment Law and the constitution.
It stated, “Members of the Legislative Assembly showed wisdom on Thursday when they passed without debate on Second Reading the Currency (Amendment) Law, 1976, which will enable the Currency Board to spread the range of its investments.”
‘Our Constitution’ discussed that Turks and Caicos’ new constitution was due to come into effect later in the year, a move that would put that country “ahead of Cayman” as it would provide for a chief minister who would be elected by the people’s representatives in the House, and the governor in turn would appoint the other ministers on the nomination of the chief minister.

An advertisement appeared for Hobbies and Books, which was promoting tropical fish as “an unusual gift for Father’s Day”.
