The 2012 Keswick Convention began at 7.30pm Sunday at the Agape Worship Centre, off Fairbanks.
Known for its cross denominational inclusion, the focus of the gospel of Christ risen is the basis of the convention, which brings different congregations together during a week-long celebration of the gospel. The Keswick Convention has developed a reputation for featuring contemporary preachers known for their gift of explaining the Bible.
In its 38th year in the Cayman Islands, the convention, which was started 130 years ago in the English town of Keswick, will host both evening and lunch time meetings.
This year’s speaker is Dr. Crawford Loritts, who spent 25 years in the Campus Crusade for Christ and also served as the associate director of that organisation. He is the senior pastor of a congregation in Georgia and has authored six books.
The Keswick Convention evening meetings will run from 7.30 to 9pm every evening from Sunday, 15 January, to Friday, 20 January, at the Agape Worship Centre. The theme of these meetings is, “Living in Partnership with God,” with teachings based on the Book of John. There will also be child evangelism fellowship offered during the meetings for young people ages 3-8.
Lunchtime meetings will be held at the Family Life Centre behind the Walker’s Road Church of God from Monday through Friday at 12.10pm to 12.50pm. The theme of these meetings is, “Getting the Most Out of Life Daily,” with teachings based on the Book of Ecclesiastes.
“Its about coming together to celebrate what we agree on,” said Paul Reynolds of the Cayman Keswick Convention Executive Committee. “The convention is for all who love Christ, no matter which denomination or style of worship they may be familiar with.”
Mr. Reynolds said the motto of the Keswick Convention is “All One In Christ Jesus,” which is based on a letter from Paul the apostle to the Galatians.
As stated on Caymankeswick.com, “The over-riding objective of the Cayman Keswick week is to glorify God by encouraging growth in the spiritual life of individuals and church communities through the careful exposition and application of the Bible.”
Evening meetings of the Keswick Convention will be broadcast live on Radio Cayman, while lunchtime meetings will be replayed the following morning at 10.30am on Love FM/103.1FM.
Additionally, the speaker for this year’s convention will be interviewed on Radio Cayman today and will make an appearance on the Daybreak show on Cayman27 on Tuesday.
