Is there a book inside you just waiting to get out? Is there an unfinished manuscript gathering dust in a bottom drawer somewhere? If the budding author within needs a bit of encouragement or is not sure how to go about getting published, the Self-Publishing Round Table at Books and Books on Thursday, 11 February could be just what you need.
Local authors Catherine Tyson, Chelsea Rivers and Murali Ram will all be present sharing their tips, insights and experiences. Each of these authors has recently written and self-published a book and they are now keen to share their experiences.
Catherine Tyson
Born in Grand Cayman, Catherine Tyson is the proud single mother of three children. She is also a qualified counsellor with degrees in Psychology and Social Work and currently works as a Human Services Manager. After taking it upon herself to figure things out on her own, the lessons that Catherine learned made it easy for her to tell her story and help others along the way. Catherine self-published her autobiography, I’m Somebody’s Mama, through AuthorHouse.
Chelsea Rivers
Chelsea M. Rivers was born in Texas, but moved to the Cayman Islands as a child. Chelsea’s debut novel, Hurricane Ivan: The Experience, is an account of four families’ experiences during the storm. She self-published her story through Xulon Press and is now working on new ideas including a children’s series.
Murali Ram
Murali Ram Krishn was raised in Penang, Malaysia, where he was exposed to a number of world religions. Fascinated by the mystery of faith, he travelled across continents to cities steeped in religious history and culture. As a traveller and attorney, he constantly dealt with the many facets of human character. He resides in the Cayman Islands with his wife, daughter and son. In his debut novel, The Book of Walla, Murali draws inspiration from his interest in religion and his expertise in the field of law. The book was self-published through Llumina Press.
