Charles ‘The Killa’ Whittaker waits on patiently for a world title fight challenge. The 38-year-old West Bayer is lined up for a big fight now he is No.2 in the International Boxing Federation junior-middleweight (154lbs) rankings.
“Right now we don’t have anything on schedule but I’m hoping tentatively to get a stay-busy fight for April,” Killa said. “Hopefully, I can get ready for that and jump in the ring, start getting ready in March. I’ve been doing a bit of running and light training.
“I haven’t approached anybody and the fight I really want is against the champ Cornelius ‘K9’ Bundrage. He’s supposed to be fighting in March but I don’t know. Things change from day to day with promoters. We’ll see how it pans out.
“Don King has been pursuing me to sign me to a promotional contract. I want it to be a deal that’s good for me, like we’re not sitting at the table and he’s eating and saying the food tastes good and I’m hungry. As long as he’s eating and I’m eating we can sit down. I’m trying to get the best deal so that we can come to an agreement.”
King made an offer last week which Killa’s agent, Raul Alvarez, rejected and they are waiting for an improved offer. “If we can get a deal worked out which is good for me then we’ll do it. I hope to fight in April, that’s all I’m hoping for right now.”
