Harry’s extend as Agua slip

The match-of-the-day in the Heineken Sunday League on Sunday was the top of the table clash between league leaders Harry’s and second placed Agua who were eight points behind and desperate to close the gap.

Harry’s Chris Fenn finished off a crisp move for the first score. The game was effectively won for Harry’s shortly after when Agua’s Dan Cummings, who completely mis-timed his jump, stuck out his hand at a cross to concede a soft penalty. Fenn scored.

A comeback goal for Agua arrived when hesitancy in the Harry’s defence allowed a tame Paul Blenkinsopp free kick to score. Agua did have one golden opportunity to level the scores after a De Riso pass sent Michael McLaughlin clear, but from 20 yards, he blazed over.

With Agua slipping up, Triple Crown Wanderers seized the opportunity to leapfrog them into second place with a 5-1 win against Old Boys at the TE McField Annex. Wanderers captain Nick Anderson let fly with a bullet for the first goal after four minutes. Then Johnny McLaughlin made it two before the break. Kirk Rowe knocked home a cross to pull one back for Old Boys. Then Marc Brown scored two almost identical goals when he weaved past the Old Boys keeper and Emmanuel Brown got the fifth for Wanderers.

The other game at the TE McField Annex was between Boca Juniors and MC Devils. Boca were the in-form team going and they raced to a 2-0 half-time lead through Henry Mitchell. Then Boca’s speedster Yannick Solomon hit two to complete the 4-0 win. Both sides were reduced to ten men for straight red cards from separate incidents in the second half.

The remaining match of the weekend was between Prison and bottom of the table CML Claymores at Ed Bush. Claymores snatched the lead on 13 minutes after casual passing among the Prison defenders gifted Lee Hart the ball. This was as good as it got for CML, as Prison dominated possession and levelled nine minutes later through a Kevin Gillet penalty.

Prison then took the lead just before half-time when Willis squared for Brady Grant to tap home. Prison continued attacking after the break and were rewarded when Derron Campbell scored twice and then a second of the game for Grant to finish the match at 5-1.
