The Cayman Islands Insurance Company has issued a statement clarifying the benefits of its Home Health Care system.
Home Health Care provides medical services in a patient’s home.
The insurance company said the clarification was issued in response to misconceptions of the exact extent of the benefit.
To be eligible for Home Health Care, CINICO members must complete an application form, and must have a formal written plan from the patient’s attending physician, which is approved by the chief medical officer. The plan must be reviewed at least every 180 days.
The plan must state the diagnosis, certify that the Home Health Care is in place of hospital confinement and must also specify the type and extent of Home Health Care required for the treatment of the patient.
“CINICO also wants to take this opportunity to reassure its members that benefits have not changed and continue to be available to persons who qualify and are covered under our civil servants and pensioners, seafarers and veterans and persons covered under the Indigent Plans,” the statement from CINICO read.
Home Health Care is not available on the SHIC plans – Affordable, Challenger and Silver.
