As the month of May comes to an end, so too does Little League baseball.
Yet another successful season in the books and things are still as fun and as competitive as ever. The 2012 season saw changes for the better as the baseball play improved and volunteer numbers increased as well as staff members. Cayman Islands Little League President Paul Gallagher states things panned out well.
“The season went much smoother than those of past years,” Gallagher said. “Latoya McField [facilities director] played a huge part in that, over-seeing all the scheduling, making sure the fields were playable and organizing a lot of the games.”
Mr. Gallagher went on to say how much he saw Little League improve over the past season. Him, along with other coaches and parents, saw a vast increase in the skill-set of the players which in turn inspired more volunteers.
“I want to give a special thanks to the sponsors and volunteers of 2012,” he added, “without them none of this would’ve been possible. We’re always ready to take on more volunteers but the guys did a great job this year.”
The Field of Dreams in George Town will now host the annual end-of-year all-star weekend. Saturday, 26 May, starts a day of family fun, the highlight, being all-star games for each age-group being played on all four fields.
There is also a end-of-year raffle.
