Hingis returns to serve Legends

The 11th hosting of the Legends Tennis tournament will take place at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman from 30 October to 3 November.

Over the years, some of the greatest tennis players ever have been part of this event including John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Martina Hingis and Jennifer Capriati.

The 2012 Legends Tennis already has some big names confirmed, including Martina Hingis and Stefan Edberg. Crowd favourites Murphy Jensen and Jimmy Arias will also return.

A major change for the 2012 Legends Tennis is the introduction of the ‘Celebrity Tennis Challenge’, with Sir Richard Branson and Greg Norman. Commenting on the addition, Sir Richard Branson said, “As a keen tennis player I’m looking forward to playing in the Legends Tennis and being on court with some of the greatest tennis players ever.”

The Legends Tennis tournament contributes to charity ever year. Last year it donated over $25,000 worth of benefits to Cayman charities. These included over $10,000 to the Cayman Crisis Centre and over $12,000 worth of tennis equipment to the Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands.

Event Director Don Kneipp said, “We are extremely pleased to be able to announce the dates for the 2012 event and that we’re bringing Martina Hingis and Stefan Edberg back to Cayman.

“The addition of the celebtrity tennis tournament will be very exciting and it’ll be a lot of fun watching Sir Richard Branson and Greg Norman battling it out.”
