New board has punchy outlook

The Cayman Islands Amateur Boxing Association recently held its general elections of board members at the Dalmain Ebanks Boxing Gym.

The election on 25 July resulted in a newly elected board with Terence Spencer becoming the new president. The other newly elected members of the Cayman Islands Boxing Association, are Jarladth Travers (director), Leyla Jackson (secretary), Emily McGhee (assistant secretary), Shernett Watson (treasurer), Chrissie Harford (director), Dawn Rodriguez (director), Sharon Francis (assistant secretary), Ann-Marie Byrd (1st vice-president) and Jan Golaszewski (2nd vice-president).

The association thanked the past board and president, Thomas Ebanks, for their contribution and dedication in the growth and development of the boxing programme. It is the objective of the current board to continue along this path with implementation of guidelines and code of conduct to inspire the youths in the programme.

The boxers will be guided by coaches Anglin and Wilson who will be steering them towards preparation for the Olympics in 2016.

The gym’s top amateurs at present are Dariel Ebanks, Kendall Ebanks and Tafari Ebanks.
