YCLA event set for March 2013

The 2013 Gala Awards night for the Young Caymanian Leadership Award is scheduled for 23 March at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

The nomination period for the award will open in mid-September, according to a news release. Anyone from the community can nominate a young Caymanian leader. All nominations are evaluated by the Young Caymanian Leadership Foundation’s honorary board of directors. Five finalists will be selected and announced in December.

“Despite their different focuses, the YCLA alumni share a common interest; they each have a deep and sincere passion for what they do and it energises them to consistently move forward in their efforts. Every year we have a new recipient with a unique and motivating message, but overall the core message is about stimulating positive change in our youth,” the foundation’s Melissa Wolfe said.

This year’s award recipient was Garth Arch.

“I have appreciated the unique opportunity to speak to and encourage the youth of Cayman in momentous occasions such as graduations and end-of-year award ceremonies, in addition to smaller settings such as community discussions for fathers and sons,” he said.
