The availability of parking at Cayman Islands Hospital will be affected for six months while renovation work is carried out to install a new MRI machine at the facility in George Town, hospital officials said.
A portion of the parking lot serving the dialysis unit has been blocked since Monday, when construction work began. The remaining parking outside the dialysis unit is reserved for dialysis patients only.
Additional parking is available at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church or the adjacent lot at the four-way stop at the junction of Hospital Drive and Smith Road.
The new 3.0 Tesla MRI machine will enable patients to be diagnosed at the hospital rather than having to travel off island. It replaces a temporary 1.5 Tesla MRI, which has been used at the facility since July.
