Charles “Killa” Whittaker suffered a setback on Saturday in his attempt to get a world title fight later in the year.
In a bout for the United States Boxing Association junior middleweight title, Cayman’s Whittaker (39-14-2, 23 KOs) retired in his corner after the sixth round to Demetrius “The Gladiator” Hopkins (33-2-1, 13 KOs) of Philadelphia, because he was unable to see out his left eye.
Hopkins landed consistently with his overhand right and scored a knockdown with it in the fourth. The official time of the technical knockout was 3:00 of the sixth round.
Hopkins, 32, is the nephew of Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins.
Whittaker, 39, from West Bay in Grand Cayman, fought in Atlantic City on the undercard of the Adrien Broner versus Gavin Rees headliner. He was taken to the hospital for observation.

I think it is time to pack it in, Killa. You’ve had a good run and achieved more than any Caymanian boxer before you. Better to make a graceful exit now than to have it all end in humiliation.
Time for Killa to realize he’s a has been that probably never will be. Time to stop before he gets seriously hurt or worse, he has nothing to be ashamed of! A boxer prime is usually from 18-35 yrs, there has been some exceptions, but few and far between. Hang em up Charles, just sayin….
