The players with Island Heritage will be keen to continue their early form.
Heading into week two of the Cayman Islands Basketball Association 2013 National Women’s League, Island Heritage Silver Mist are still on a high after crushing the Home Gas Flames, 49-18, during the season opener.
Island Heritage took down the two-time reigning national champions thanks largely to team captain Scimone Campbell. Guiding the Silver Mist are head coach Daniel Augustine and assistant coach Chris Lucas.
The Silver Mist now storm Camana Bay’s Arts and Recreation Centre for a match with Welly’s Cool Spot at 6.15pm on Thursday, 7 March. Welly’s are coming off a tight 66-62 loss to the Wolves in their opener.
Established stars Chloe Powery and April Ebanks carried the load offensively for the Cool Spot. Both were led by head coach Redver Ebanks and assistant Billy Fenton.
The Wolves, under head coach Brandon Myles and assistant Duran “Trini” Whittaker, featured team captain Cassianne Lawrence and veteran Benieca Thompson.
Thursday’s other match sees Home Gas facing the Wolves at 7.45pm. The Flames will be dependent on the likes of impact players Sade Wood and Gemma Graelis. Bruce Reynolds and assistant Wendy Manzanares coach Home Gas.
It should be noted that week two was pushed back from the initial date of last Thursday. Based on association statistics, the delay appears to be a result of the Dominos Lady Heels withdrawing from the league.
