A new exhibition featuring work by local artists and photographers opened at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Gallery on Wednesday, 6 March.
Titled “Crystal Clear”, the exhibition is curated by Chris Christian. In keeping with this theme, artists were asked to create works of art that captured the purity, exuberance, vibrance, and tranquillity of the Cayman Islands.
With many pieces inspired by the soothing blues and greens of Cayman’s sea and sky, Crystal Clear is a visual ode of love and pride, says Chris.
The exhibition, which runs for the next four months, features both paintings and photographs by a number of well known local artists, and will also introduce a number of new artists.
Among the new talents whose work will be shown are Amanda Terry, Carley Jackson, Gigi Genovese, Susan Lueck and Vanessa Polack.
Established artists such as Miguel Powery, Shane Dready, Avril Ward, Cathy Church, Christel Ibsen, CJ Viggers, Courtney Platt, Debbi Truchan, Hannah Cook, Jim Hellemn, Gordon Solomon, John Broad, Judy Muir, Lorna Griggs, Michael Seffer, Monte Lee Thornton, Renate Seffer and Sue Howe will also be showing their work.
The objective of the Ritz Gallery, says Chris, has always been to give something back to the island by providing our talented artists with a stable platform to exhibit and sell their art.
With only a few galleries on island, and several others that have opened and subsequently closed again, The Ritz Gallery is an essential resource for Cayman’s artists as well as being a significant addition to the island’s cultural scene, adds Chris.
Crystal Clear is open to all and will run until 6 July.
