Hazard Management Cayman Islands is conducting an exercise today to practice preparedness in the event of a tsunami in the Caribbean region.
Although this is only an exercise and media outlets were asked not to broadcast any of the warnings issued about the mock tsunami, Hazard Management issued a short statement this morning saying the news of the exercise has reached the public.
As a result, Hazard Management’s media spokesperson Simon Boxall has asked media outlets to advise the public that this in only an exercise and that residents should therefore remain calm.
