A competition for young, emerging writers in the Caribbean has earned three local primary students top honours.
Winners of Rotary Butterfly Storybook Project: a tale of good deeds and of doing the right thing written in 300 to 750 WORDS by students were:
Chloe Bentick, 8, a student of Montessori by the Sea wrote The Shark and the Turtle;
Alec Harding, 10 George Town Primary, A Favour Returned
Leena Hussein 10, Cayman Prep, High The Race
Each winner received a $10 gift certificate from Books and Books.
All stories submitted have been entered in Rotary’s District 7020 competition. All students who entered will also receive a certificate from Rotary District 7020.
According to Rotary Sunrise, all stories were good quality that showed there is excellent talent in the Cayman Islands. Three Rotarians from the club’s literacy committee did the judging.
Rotary Sunrise recognised the three winners at its weekly breakfast Wednesday morning meeting at the Grand Old House Restaurant.
