Silver Bullets shoot down Esso Blazers

The Esso Blazers are far from a given to repeat as national champions.

The defending champions lost their first game of the Cayman Islands Basketball Association 2013 National Men’s League in overtime to the Silver Bullets, 90-82. Both teams are now 2-1 atop the standings.

The Blazers had a three-point lead at halftime and a one-point edge heading into the fourth quarter. But the Silver Bullets would outscore Esso, 10-2, in overtime and claim the victory.

All six of the Silver Bullets players were in double figures. Omar Clarke led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Brandon Glasgow added 19 points and nine rebounds. Teammate Rohan Webster produced 15 points, including a trio of 3-pointers and three steals. Meanwhile, Chester Hurlston had 13 points and nine rebounds, with Denton Cole adding 13 points and five assists. Adam Milburn notched 11 points and five rebounds.

Perry Levy was top scorer for Esso with 27 points, including five long bombs and five assists. Barrett Edri added 21 points and five rebounds and Kevin Maxwell notched 14 points and 14 rebounds.
