George Town Primary School students will receive $8,000 in donations to help fund field trips, weekend maths classes and enhance participation in the performing arts.
Eight local businesses donated funds, including DMS Organization, Deloitte, Appleby, Foster’s Food Fair, Cayman Enterprise City, Comfort Suites Ltd, Dart Enterprises and Ernst & Young.
The school is striving to raise a further $60,000 to complete its Performing Arts Centre, after the building was donated by Davenport Development and other companies.
Parent Teacher’s Association President Cheyenna Stewart said the facility would help the island to preserve its heritage.
“Having a central place in the school for these types of activities means this becomes a hub where many like-minded people can come together for the benefit of our children,” she said.
Businesses can donate between $2,000 and $5,000 and will be placed on a wall honoring donors.
