West Indies need to beat Australia in Group 2 of the World T20 in Bangladesh to have a realistic chance of retaining the crown they won so spectacularly two years ago.
The match in Dhaka is the third for the Caribbean side, which lost by seven wickets to India in their opener on Sunday and then beat the host nation by 73 runs on Tuesday.
Dwayne Smith’s spectacular 43-ball 72 and some sloppy Bangladesh fielding contributed to West Indies’ 171 for 7.
Samuel Badree was the West Indies bowling hero against Bangladesh. His 4 for 15 were his best in T20 internationals and also West Indies’ best in the World T20.
Krishmar Santokie – a left-arm seamer usually, but a left-arm spinner as well was in fine form too. The 29-year-old Jamaican sent back three of Bangladesh’s most dangerous batsmen within the first four overs.
