The Cayman Hot Sauce Flames are off to a scorching start on the rink.
The reigning two-time roller hockey champions are unbeaten to start the Fall 2014 Adult Inline League at Kings Sports Centre. Cayman Hot Sauce registered its second straight triumph on Tuesday night, defeating the Sharknados, 14-8. Derek Bruce, Jamie Nelson, Paul Strenk, Mike Bowden, Andrew Bowden and Dennis Paschier scored for the Flames while Evan Ellbogen, Claude Plamondon and Dave Champoux found the back of the net for the Sharknados.
Cayman Hot Sauce won its season opener, 11-3, over the ITS Solar Bears last week. Acclaimed goalie Randy Cannon led the scoring with a goal, followed by strikes from Jamie Nelson, Strenk, Mike and Andrew Bowden and Paschier. ITS countered with scores from Brad De Schiffert, Fiona McLeod and Brendon Malice.
To no surprise, the Flames are enjoying statistical dominance. The squad boasts the league’s top offense, scoring a competition-best 25 goals, while having a stingy defense – allowing a league-low 11 goals. Paschier is in the running for the scoring title, ranking third in goals scored with six strikes while sitting second in passing with six assists.
Up next for the Flames are the Solar Bears on Sept. 23 at 9 p.m.
ITS rebounded from their earlier thrashing to defeat the High Rollers, 13-10, on Tuesday night. De Schiffert, Dan Etherington, McLeod and Malice scored for the Solar Bears while Rich Hastings, Gordon Mattison, Rob Seward and Joe Jewitt kept the High Rollers in it.
