Amir Khan and Timothy Bradley came through their bouts in Las Vegas in contrasting styles and hope that they can secure a big money bout against Floyd “Money” Mayweather next year.
Khan staked his claim for a shot at Mayweather with a masterful points win over Devon Alexander to retain his WBC Silver welterweight title.
The Brit used his superior speed and footwork while dominating the American to take a unanimous points win with scores of 119-109, 118-110 and 120-108. Meanwhile, former two-division world titleholder Timothy Bradley Jr. looked like he had clearly won an exciting fight against Diego Chaves on Saturday night at the Cosmopolitan.
But the scorecards gave it as a split draw that seemed completely impossible to comprehend and left the sellout crowd of 2,400 shocked.
“I thought I won at least eight rounds,” said Bradley, with ringside media overwhelmingly favoring him by wide scorecards.
