50 years ago: The week in West Bay

In the Nov. 10, 1965 edition of the Caymanian Weekly, a predecessor of the Cayman Compass, West Bay correspondent Leila Yates reported on various comings and goings in the community: 

“Miss Andalene Bush returned from Ja. on the 1st having visited that island to make arrangements for entrance into hospital to train as a nurse.” 

“We are pleased to see Mr. Stowell Ebanks, who has been sick for a few weeks, feeling much better and back at work.” 

“Mrs. Linette Collins left on Sat. for Ja. after spending a few weeks with her relatives.” 

“Mr. Layman Rexford left on Mon. to join the S.S. ‘Oceanic’ as 2nd cook.”

“Capt. Dalgon Ebanks left on the 5th for the U.S. to bring a boat here for Capt. Bob Soto.” 

“Mr. James Williams arrived on the 6th. He was 3rd engineer on the S.S. Admiral.”
