Seven Mile public beach recently got a facelift as members of Rotary Central, the Lions Club of Grand Cayman, the Leo Club of Grand Cayman and Rotaract of Grand Cayman service clubs joined forces for a beach clean up.
‘This was our fourth beach clean up. . . . The fellowship was unbelievable and we worked very well together,’ said Ken Guiste Rotary Central’s director of community service.
The clean up, held 23 February, was a great success with more than 60 bags collected, mainly from an area north of the main beach area.
Lee Ramoon, President of the Lions Club of Grand Cayman, said: ‘It was a great and enjoyable project with the service clubs coming together for a very worthwhile cause, keeping our beaches clean. I hope that we can do some more of these projects together. I would also like to encourage residents to keep our beaches clean.’
Leo board member Miguel Solomon said: ‘I would definitely say that today was a success. At the beginning of the day, I thought that there would not be enough rubbish on the beach but getting into the tree and scrubbed areas proved to be where most of the rubbish had accumulated.’
