The Cayman Islands Tourism Association’s Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Trina Christian as the new Executive Director of CITA.
Having moved on from her previous position as Director of Marketing for Cayman Traditional Arts, Ms Christian has replaced Ken Thompson, who has moved on to become the General Manager for Comfort Suites, said a press release from the CITA.
‘With our fiscal year coming to an end March 31, 2008, we are excited about having Trina lead the association into a new year of growth and opportunity,’ said Karie Bergstrom, CITA President.
The release notes that Ms Christian first came to the Cayman Islands in 1989, and brings with her past experience in the restaurant industry, the resort industry and her most current experience with Cayman Traditional Arts, having assisted in developing it into a viable organization that contributes heavily to the development of culture in tourism and in the community, through events, educational programs and products.
During the three years that Ms Christian worked for Cayman Traditional Arts and her rental property, she was recognised in publications such as Travel & Leisure, The Craft Journal, and in the Miami Herald, and has maintained extensive local media coverage for her involvement in the development of arts and culture in the Cayman Islands tourism industry.
‘CITA is committed to providing the tourism industry, leadership, guidance and appropriate services for the benefit of its members and so contributes to a viable and sustainable tourism industry. In doing this, CITA provides a supportive role in the areas of advocacy, marketing, education, communication, industry relations and industry representation for tourism related issues. The CITA Board of Directors looks forward to working with Trina as we embark on an exciting time of growth and change in the Tourism Industry,’ said Ms Bergstrom.
