Capleton Cayman Reggae Fest tonight

Dancehall icon Capleton is set to take to the Lions Centre stage tonight.

The concert, dubbed Cayman Reggae Fest, also includes Ras Christie, Hawkeye, smooth crooner Singing Melody, Okonko, Jah Sean, Mase, Sunshine Band, Notch, Ali B, DJ Neko, Scatta Hype and Dessert Eagle. The Show will be backed by Sunshine Band. MCs will be DJ M from Hot 104.1fm and Lady T.

Capleton, a.k.a. Clifton George Bailey III, hails from Islington, St. Mary, Jamaica. The singer – who got his stage name from friends who were so impressed with his sharp reasoning skills that they named him after the most famous lawyer in town – burst onto the dancehall scene in the late 1980s. He announced his arrival with a string of hit songs, including Bumbo Red and Lotion Man and quickly established himself as one of dancehall’s hit makers.

Throughout the past decade he has remained at the top of his game, releasing a slew of hits. More recent sound system favourites and dancehall toppers include Jah Jah City and Good In Her Clothes.

Tickets, priced at $25, are available at Funky Tangs, BJ’s Electronics and Reflections. Tickets cost more at the gate.
