(AFP) Andrew Bynum has signed a four-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, sealing one of the key players in a title contending line up.
The deal for the 21-year-old center, who would have been a restricted free agent next year, means NBA Most Valuable Player Kobe Bryant and power forward Pau Gasol of Spain are assured of having their key big man for years to come.
The 7 foot Bynum, gets nearly $42 million in the first three years with the Lakers having an option for a fourth season at $16m.
Bynum averaged 13.1 points and 10.2 rebounds in 35 games last season but was out from mid-January through the Lakers’ run to the NBA Finals after a bone bruise and left kneecap dislocation.
