Monsieur Francios Thibault will make his first visit to the Cayman Islands this week.
The creator of the recipe for Grey Goose vodka, Mr. Thibault holds the title of Maitre de Chai, or Cellar Master, for the vodka from the region of Cognac, France.
He has a significant resume taking him from Burgundy to Bordeaux for studies followed by an extensive time in Cognac, including his appointment as Maitre de Chai, a title given to a select group of craftsmen who hold the most respected position in the luxury spirits world. He is responsible for overseeing the entire hand-crafted production of each bottle of Grey Goose, from the selection of every ounce of the exclusive French wheat used, to the five-step distillation process to the final blending of the spirit with pure spring water that has been naturally filtered through the limestone of France’s Champagne region, states a press release.
Joining Mr. Thibault for the trip is the Global Brand Ambassador for Grey Goose Monsieur Dimitri Lezinka, one of the world’s top mixologists. Born and reared in Paris and now living in London, Dimitri perfected his craft at some of UK’s top cocktail bars including the Atlantic Bar, Mash, Eclipse and as the manager of LAB. Dimitri went on to achieve international notoriety as the host of the Discovery Channel’s show Cocktail Kings, a guide to some of the best cities in the world and the cocktails to enjoy in their most stylish bars, restaurants and hotels. Dimitri now has holds thee position of Global Brand Ambassador traveling around the world sharing the art of making cocktails.
Mr. Thibault and Lezinska will host a series of training for some employees of the island’s top restaurants, hotels and bars and attend a reception Thursday evening from 5-9pm at Abacus hosted by the Blackbeards and Cayman Distributors Group, which was recently awarded Grey Goose Caribbean Distributor of the Year at its annual distributor conference in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
‘This reception is open to the public as a thank you to everyone in the Cayman Islands who helped us be awarded distributor of the year and as a formal welcome to Francois and Dimitri on their first visit to the island,’ said Mat Bishop, general manager.
Marcus Mueri and Neal Bryington from Abacus promise an evening featuring live music on the Paseo, creative tastings from their amuse bouche collection and a variety of Grey Goose cocktails they will concoct from Dimitri’s recipes.’
