I’d like to talk about getting cabs home at night. I was wondering if they would ever be willing to give discounts on their fares during events like Pirate’s Week/Halloween/Batabano etc?
I took a taxi home a few weeks ago and it cost be $40 for a one way ride! I have never been so shocked in my life.
I then asked why fares are so costly and I was told that government sets the prices for all cabs. Is this true? If so, how do you expect people to ever want to take a cab home? And if they were to get a cab home, how do you propose they get out in the first place? Pay another $40 bucks to drive out?
If the police want to prevent people from drinking and driving, then I suggest they urge the government to implement a means of transport that doesn’t cost people and arm and a leg. I understand that the taxi drivers need to be paid a wage, but there has to be some solution to this.
