Students learn auto mechanics

Leading Edge High School students now have the opportunity to learn auto mechanics during free time.

The new activity was launched to give students in the Learning through Internship Programme an edge in choosing it as a career or help them decide if it is something they would like to do in the future.

The programme, targets lower ability students, at risk students and those with a genuine interest in the field for both boys and girls.

Two times per week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12.15-1.50pm students meet with Nathaniel Wisdom, Wise Auto owner who has generously volunteered his services with the use of tools, a car and mechanic. Mr. Wisdom has been an integral part of the CAYS Foundation Apprenticeship programme and is passionate about the training of youths

The aim of the programme is to get students to disable a working car, repair it and make it functional again. By doing this, students learn identification and use of tools, trouble shooting, components of various systems and safety.
